Managing your Sims’ emotions becomes less of an immersive feature and more of a chore, but with the Emotional Inertia mod from roBurky, these emotions become more realistic - and hence, more difficult to manage. This mod, when downloaded, allows you to increase the number of trait slots you can have from 3 up to 5 while in create-a-sim mode (CAS). When you want to find a mod for the issue you are experiencing you could also check the creator of the mod that made it possible to have more than eight household.
